Last night over 60 residents joined our public meeting on youth crime and county lines.
The HEY Network hosted an online meeting with residents from across Enfield and Haringey on the subject of Youth Crime and County Lines. The event was Chaired by Dr Victor Olisa QPM, former Borough Commander for Haringey. It started with a one hour workshop by local Trainer Leo Powell and ended with a question and answer session with Detective Inspector Lindsey Billany, the Met Police County Lines lead for Enfield and Haringey
We decided to do a public event as it's vitally important that Serious Youth Violence and County Lines is seen and dealt with by the whole community. The idea came from a local resident following concerns of two murders of young people in Tottenham a month ago. - Seema Chandwani, Project Manager: HEY Network
Residents were able to understand a range of issues including 'cuckooing' of vulnerable residents in the community. They were also informed about looking for signs of County Lines in their neighbourhoods and to come forward, even if it was not believed to be important.
